Thank you for your patience! The first week of school is almost in the books. There is always some confusion with schedules, bus routes, classes, meals, and more. Thank you for those who called with questions for clarifications. Thanks to all for having patience with everything. We hope to hit the ground running full stride next Monday.
JHVB Practice: Junior High Volleyball will start practice after school on Aug. 28
Substitutes: We are always looking for substitute teachers, bus drivers, custodians, and cooks to help fill in when regular employees have to be gone. If you would like to be on our substitute list please contact the office for more information at 644-2206.
Free/Reduced Meals: Please see the attached form for free/reduced meals and return it as soon as possible so that meals can be charged accordingly starting the first day of school. There are multiple ways to apply; you can fill the form out and drop it off at the school, fill the form out and email/mail it back, or apply online at https://dca.opi.mt.gov/frapp. Also, there was a change made in the state of Montana this year. If your child/children are on medicaid they may have automatically pulled into the school system as free or reduced and no form is required. If you think that your family falls under this change, feel free to call Ginger @ 406-644-2206 ext. 229 or e-mail at [email protected] and we can let you know the child’s current eligibility.
School Website: Check out https://charlo.k12.mt.us/ for answers to lots of questions you may have with school coming. You can find the school calendar, supply lists, staff directory, etc. You can always call the office with questions at 644-2206.
Question of the Week: What are school hours for office, teachers, and support staff?
Normal hours for school are Mon-Thu with a couple exceptions. For example, the week of Labor Day we have school Tue-Fri. The cafeteria opens at 7:35 AM. Teachers are on duty from 7:30 AM-4:30 PM. The office opens at 7:30 AM. We do our best to have somebody in the office until 4:30 PM but due to meetings, other duties, and unforeseen incidents: that does not always happen. Most Fridays the office is open until at least Noon. Support staff have a range of duty times and different shifts throughout the week depending on the needs of the school district.
If you have a question of the week please email [email protected].
WE STILL NEED TO FILL SOME POSITIONS
Coaching Positions Available: Charlo Schools has the following coaching positions open for the 2023-2024 school year: 2 Junior High Girls Basketball, and 1 Junior High Boys Basketball. All applicants should like kids and working in a school setting. Applicants must have a HS Diploma or GED, must pass a fingerprint background check, and be motivated to be a team player. Wages DOE. Health insurance benefits, retirement, sick leave, and vacation leave are all provided by the School District. In order to apply all interested applicants should complete a District Application which can be found at http://charlo.k12.mt.us/. An application can also be requested by calling 644-2206. Any questions can be directed to Steve Love, Superintendent by calling 644-2206 ext 230 or emailing [email protected].
Admission Price Increases: As all of you know the cost of doing business keeps rising in all areas and athletics is no exception. Paying for referees, game administration, custodians, and other overhead costs can be over $1000 for a night for a high school basketball game. In order to combat some of those expenses some changes were made to admission prices and annual passes for extra-curricular activities this coming school year. It has been over 10 years since admission fees have been raised and we hope that everyone understands the District’s position with keeping things running for our students. For 2023-2024 the following prices will
|$8 for a Varsity Game||$4|
|$10 for Double Varsity||$5|
|$3 for JV only||$2|
|$3 for JH only||$2|
|$0 for Seniors 62 or Older|
but donations are welcome and appreciated
Annual Athletic Passes will be $70 for an adult, $55 for a student, and $165 for a family of five. There will no longer be a list of names for those purchasing a pass. Spectators will have to present their pass or a photo of it on their phone at each event. Every spectator must check in at the ticket booth at each contest. This will help our ticket takers out immensely. Too many spectators take advantage of our ticket takers then do not pay. Some just walk by assuming the ticket taker knows them or knows they have a pass.
