School Board Meeting Change: The regular monthly school board meeting for October has been moved to Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023 at 7 PM in the Library.
Immunization Records: If your student is not current with immunizations please schedule an appointment with your medical provider or Lake County Health before Nov. 1, 2023. Make sure to bring a copy of the records to the office once your student has been immunized. If you have questions please contact the school 644-2206.
THINK PINK! Oct. 12 and 13 is Think Pink for Cancer Awareness. Please wear Pink. There will be baked goods, silent auctions, and other fundraiser items such as autographed footballs on tap in order to raise money for cancer awareness and prevention.
Parents of Athletes: I want to thank Jamie Bauer, Melissa Coleman, and Miranda Long for organizing food for our athletes on trips this Fall. They, in turn, would like to thank all the parents of athletes who have been so good about getting snacks, food, lunches, and drinks together for our athletes! Great Job!
Substitutes: In the past week the need for substitutes has never been more evident. Without substitutes it can be almost impossible to keep things running. We had to cancel a bus route on Wednesday due to lack of available sub drivers. If it wasn’t for 2 subs in the cafeteria we might not have been able to offer meals this week either. We are always looking for substitute teachers, bus drivers, custodians, and cooks to help fill in when regular employees have to be gone. If you would like to be on our substitute list please contact the office for more information at 644-2206.
Question of the Week: What happened with the gym?
For those of you who don’t know the main gym was built in the 70’s. In order to alleviate ground water, sump pumps and drains were placed under the gym during construction. It is not unusual for the sump to run time to time but on Monday afternoon custodial staff noticed pumps were constantly running. Further investigation led to the fact we had a broken water line. Work has begun to locate and fix the leak. Work has also begun in an attempt to save the gym floor. We do not know how long we will have to keep the water shut off. There is no timetable on assessing the damage to the gym floor at the moment. Day Spring Restoration is drying out the floor and this process could take 1-2 weeks. We are doing our best to first fix the leak to restore water to the gyms. We are able to continue with school in the rest of the buildings. We are working on contingency plans for home games which we still plan on hosting this weekend and next weekend.
If you have a question of the week please email [email protected].
