PARENTS CONTACTING STUDENTS/STAFF DURING THE SCHOOL DAY
Unfortunately we have been inundated lately by parents interrupting the instructional day with phone calls, texts, and messages. Instructional time is being interrupted by parents calling ahead to have their students checked out during the day. Instructional time is being interrupted by wanting to meet with teachers during the day without making appointments. It’s being interrupted by wanting staff to get messages to their students about riding the bus or not riding the bus. It’s being interrupted by calling teachers in their classroom while they are teaching to have personal conversations having nothing to do with education of students. It has become such a distraction that we have to make some changes to some things taken for granted in our school.
Beginning 12-13-23 parents who are checking their students out during the school day will have to come into the school building to do so. We will not be getting students out of class ahead of time via phone calls, texts, email, or messenger. When you arrive then we will call the student to the office to be checked out. The exception is a student with a driver’s license OR a student being released to walk home. Calls will work in those cases.
Beginning 12-13-23 Unless it’s an emergency, we will take messages for teachers rather than interrupt their classrooms. We will let the teacher know you would like them to call back at their convenience. The best way to contact teachers is through their staff email which can be found on our website.
Beginning 12-13-23 Unless it’s an emergency, students will be told to get on their regular school bus rather than call home to ask about making other arrangements. Please plan ahead of time with your students on what they should do after school.
Beginning 12-13-23 Unless it’s an emergency, parents who want to visit with staff during the school day without an appointment will be asked to come back later or give the office a message for the particular staff member.
It is understandable when unforeseen things happen to become unorganized but it has become a habit for far too many. Educators have a tough enough job without their time being taken for granted. It’s impacting our work day. It’s impacting our job educating students. Our time is being taken for granted so we hope you understand. Please respect our time. Plan ahead for arrangements during the day and after school. If you have questions or concerns please feel free to contact me directly at 406-644-2206 ext 230. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
LOST and FOUND: There is a table full of Lost and Found clothing in the elementary hallway. If you are coming for the Elementary Concert on Monday it would be a great time to stop by and check it out in case your student has lost something.
Winter Sports: We will need help with score clocks, shot clocks, scorebooks, and ticket taking for basketball. If you can help us out please contact the office 644-2206 or email [email protected].
Athletic Schedules: We do not put out an athletic schedule for high school basketball as there are too many changes on a weekly basis. The reasons for those changes are teams who cancel JV games, shortage of referees, lack of bus drivers, etc. Already, Alberton has cancelled their entire girls basketball season due to lack of interest. The best way to keep up with the basketball schedule and the school schedule for that matter, is to get on our school website which is https://charlo.k12.mt.us. At the top of the page click on calendars and you will then see a current monthly calendar. Changes in times and places are made on that calendar. As always please call the office 644-2206 if you have any questions.
Substitutes: We are so grateful for those on our substitute list but that list is a pretty short one. If you have any interest in helping us out, we are always looking for substitute teachers, bus drivers, custodians, and cooks to help fill in when regular employees have to be gone. If you would like to be on our substitute list please contact the office for more information at 644-2206. We could really use the help.
Breakfast/Lunch Bill: Please make sure you student’s meals are paid up in a timely fashion. The best practice is to pay ahead. If you have any questions please contact the office.
Weather Changes: With the change in weather and daylight savings time ending please stay tuned to 750 KERR Radio or follow our school facebook page for the latest updates on possible school delays and/or closures. We try to make decisions by 6:45 AM when there is unfriendly weather or bad road conditions. You can also join our email list by contacting the office 644-2206.
Question of the Week: Where can we get basketball scores and wrestling results?
Home teams are responsible for calling in scores, stats, and results to the newspapers and tv stations. Montanasports.com and 406mtsports.com are both sites to gather information provided they have been contacted by the home team or tournament director. That does not always happen unfortunately.
If you have a question of the week please email [email protected].
